Whence the Will to Truth?

By Joshua Synon

And Man said, "Let there be Truth," and there was Truth.

Man saw that the Truth was good, and He separated the Truth from the truth.

Man called the Truth "Form," and the truth he called "illusion."

O How I have fallen from the heavens!

To the self-proclaimed Seraphim that advocate the attribution of absolute value,

To that which is – to Truth – to apodictic certainty of noumena,

I write with fear and trembling, but with utmost necessity:

Sapere aude! Let us be honest with our selves!

What vain arrogance! What soul-less ignorance!

Or rather: What spectacular deceit!

We Drapeta understand that life does not depend on dogma!

Even so, given this great quest for objective Truth succeeds – As if objective is a meaningful word!

Where have We gone and where are We to go from there?

Ah, so We have proven that the external world exists,

And We have ascertained every principle of physics!

Alas, We can all now rest in peace and cease living,

For by the power of Truth We have conquered the Universe!

Abstract Theory, nay, the Truth – The Truth – has set Us free!

Let Us become that absent-minded Man,

So abstracted from Our own lives that We hardly know We exist,

Until, one fine morning, We wake up to find Ourselves dead!

Let Us play the blind man that speaks of colors and lives by His word!

O The vanity of Theology!

Theos: The apotheosis of Truth, Being, Form –

To what great lengths Man has gone to create God in His own image! – What of God!

Have you not heard? – The anthropomorphized Form of the Good,

Along with its will to Nothing – All Platonism and love of Truth,

That ancient nihilistic disease – That pia fraus! – Has been laid to rest!

His tomb being the abyss of Human history,

Cognitive dissonance, bad faith, false hope – All judgment and condemnation,

These alongside him as relics to accompany him in the afterlife.

O The vanity of “Modern Philosophy” – That deceptively naive game of language!

Enter the new pandemic – That Cartesian disease!

O How it stinks of the residue of Seraphim!

“Let Us deny life in our lust for Truth,” they say!

Thus the ascetic ideal lives on.

But what of first principles and causa efficiens? – What of them!

This is the place of the new science.

Not the old Platonic science of universal knowledge,

But the practical and undogmatic accumulated wisdom of mankind.

Philein-sophia – The love of wisdomNot of metaphysical comfort!

O Vanity of vanities, all is vanity!

Thus cry the fallen Seraphim.

Intrinsic value and objective meaning to life? – Vivid oxymoron!

Categorical Imperative – Natural Morality – Free will – Thrice the contradiction!

All men are not created equal!

But alas – Offending the morality of an atheist,

Tis’ as dangerous as offending the religion of a true believer!

O That Dionysus would edify Your weakened souls!

Behold! I tell You a mystery: Nihilism was also invented by Seraphim.

O That You would not forget to bury this divine hearse.

Awaken, You fallen angels! Carpe diem! Your bodhisattva has arrived!

We Drapeta shall restore value to this life yet!

Too long have the “Good” and the “Just” demonized Us!

How dare they! How undemocratic of them!

We trade the Abstract for the Concrete –

The Perfect Form for the Imperfect Appearance.

Where, O Truth, is thy sting? Where, O Truth, is thy victory?

With fear and trembling we pronounce the death of Truth!

All that exists – Aisthetike – Created by Us.

Life An epic poem with Us as the Authors…

Behold! – The godlike creation of all values!

Let Us dance in Our chains and laugh the day away!
